PUPIL PREMIUM FUNDING

Pupil Premium funding is designed to help improve the educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children can often face additional challenges in terms of reaching their potential at school and may not perform as well as their peers.

Pupil premium funding is allocated according to:

  • Pupils who are eligible for free school meals, or have been eligible in the past 6 years.
  • Pupils who have been adopted from care or who have left care
  • Children who are looked after by the local authority

We adhere to the DfE guidance for school leaders ‘Using pupil premium – guidance for school leaders’ (March 2025). In addition, we strive to follow the key principles, findings and recommendations set out by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) to use the funding effectively to drive high and rising standards for disadvantaged pupils.

Leaders at Kirk Sandall Junior School ensure that they make use of the EEF tiered approach to pupil premium spending. This is to make sure that there is a wide range of strategies in use to further improve teaching, targeted academic support, and other whole school strategies such as attendance or extra-curricular activities.

Our Pupil Premium Strategy is available below.

The pupil premium strategy is reviewed frequently and published annually.

Please read the information using the link below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
