PE Curriculum
Until 2020 all schools in England & Wales will receive a set amount of funding to help develop the PE curriculum and sports provision that they provide for their pupils. The DfE have outlined a guide on how the money should be spent and will be assessing its impact at the end of the academic year. All schools are required to produce an action plan on how the money will be spent and what impact they hope to achieve from this additional funding. Here at Kirk Sandall Junior School we have spent the money in a range of ways including CPD training for staff and provide opportunities for pupils to attend clubs that would not have been possible without this extra financial support.
As part of the sports premium budget that the schools will receive over the coming years we have used a percentage of this money to employ the services of Xcite Sports and Fitness to run four after school sports clubs per week and also the school sports lunchtime clubs. We have also gained the services of Danum Eagles Basketball to provide an after school club, set up links with the local football association to promote girls football and used the money to provide an Athletics club at our pyramid secondary school. All these clubs have been very successful with a high number of pupils attending the clubs.
